About Dave
So who is this guy? Well, I’ll tell you. I’m a New Englander, a father of two, a Mac tech, and a geek. I was born and raised in Scranton, Pa. After a two year stay in Boston, I moved back to Scranton and graduated from Marywood University. I moved back to Massachusetts in 1994, where I live today.
I blog for several reasons. First off, I’m a geek, so having a website is appealing to me. I’m also a bit narcissistic, like most people are, and blogging satisfies that urge in me. I really like the immediacy of blogs. As soon as something of interest happens, be it on an international level or in a person’s own everyday life, that information can be made available to anyone who is interested in receiving it. That’s exciting to me, and something other forms of media (like print, television and radio) can’t claim.
Finally, I’ve made friends with other bloggers, and this is how I keep in touch with them.
On the Web
I either operate or contribute to a number of sites on the web. The first is Daddy Daze, which I use to share my experiences as a new father.
Every Monday, I contribute a post to The Parenting Post, which is the official blog of Parenting Magazine. You can find an archive of my posts here.
I also run a fansite of NBC’s The Office at The Scranton Branch. I offer news, detailed episode information, a podcast and a look at the show from the unique perspective of a native Scrantonian.
I also maintain a column on Newsvine, though I must admit I don’t use it very often. Posts that end up on Newsvine I felt didn’t fit anywhere else.
I’ve contributed several photos to File, an online photography magazine. I maintain a Flickr account as well.
Additionally, I created Odd Noggin a couple of years ago when my daughter was diagnosed with Positional Plagiocephaly. I leave it up as a record of our experience, and a resource for other parents going through the same thing.
Finally, I keep track of everything at Kaylow.
My Motivation
As someone who has been blogging for nearly four years now, I am completely in love with it. The immediacy with which information can be distributed and consumed is incredible to me, as well as the power of the civilian publisher. Every person in this world has something exciting, interesting and worthwhile to contribute. Blogging is a phenomenal way to get those stories out.
Media and Press
Every now and then I’m lucky enough to have something I’ve written appear in the press. Here is a short list of what I’ve done so far.
- Wall Street Journal quote
- AP article regarding The Office
- The Age (Australian newspaper)
- The Scranton Times (regarding NBC’s The Office)

thought you might find the article in The Week magazine interesting….it’s all about new parentiong trends and why more moms are staying at home.
Have a great weekend –
